Disc experiment is a fun sound experiment influenced a little bit by the loop waveform visualizer we covered a few weeks ago. It’s a visualizer that builds upon itself with simple shapes as it rotates around in 3D to the music. It may not look like much at first, but start up the sound and play with the parameters to see it at it’s best. You can get some really beautiful shapes out of it!
Manny provides a nice write up on the process as well as links to the various iterations of the experiment on his blog. So, it’s not just a fun experiment to play with, it’s also a nice peek into the process of getting there. And who doesn’t love a good process story?
